Here’s how PaySauce is different...

Timesheets

Thankyou Payroll requires employers to type up staff timesheets into their online app. If your staff work regular hours, no problem. If your staff use paper timesheets which you have to collect and tally up, this could end up being a hassle.

PaySauce’s mobile apps let staff punch hours directly into their smartphone for approval. Once signed off, they go directly into payroll for calculation. If you’ve got multiple waged staff, or they’re working at different locations, the PaySauce mobile app will save you plenty of time.

Mobile apps

Thankyou Payroll is an online service. It’s cloud-based, which is good. You can use any computer with the internet to run payroll (be wary of desktop products, they have limitations and won’t be around forever).

PaySauce is cloud-based too, so you can use any internet browser to run a pay. But we believe that the future of small business computing is mobile. That’s why we have smart apps for iOS and Android that let you run pays from wherever you are, whether it’s the couch or the golf course.

Staff love being able to check payslips and make leave requests directly from their phone.

Agricultural customers

This is our area of expertise. PaySauce allows tracking of timesheets for salaried staff, tops up to minimum wage to keep the labour inspectors happy, and integrates with agri-specific products like Cashmanager RURAL and Cash Manager Focus.

Plus, because we look after over 600 agri customers (mostly dairy with some sheep & beef and croppers), when you call our support desk they know all the whacky stuff that happens with farm payroll.

Banking and PAYE filing

Both Thankyou Payroll and PaySauce will handle this for you. This is a good thing, particularly with Payday Filing kicking off next year.

Be wary of payroll products that won’t do this for you, as it will mean extra work for you and the risk of missing a filing date (with associated penalties).

Pricing

This is one area where Thankyou Payroll excels. Their service is very cost-effective, particularly if you have three or less staff and you don’t mind waiting a few days for staff to be paid.

Thankyou Payroll’s pricing structure is a bit complicated, so make sure you’re comparing the right period. If you want to have staff paid overnight or the same day, you pay extra for the privilege.

PaySauce charges a very simple, per pay run fee based on how many staff you have. All of our payments take place on the same day. You can find our pricing calculator here.

For many businesses, especially those paying fortnightly or monthly, PaySauce will be very competitive on price.

Both PaySauce and Thankyou Payroll will provide their service free of charge to certain registered charities. Hats off to their team for another great part of their service.

The Verdict

If you’ve got three or less staff, and don’t mind waiting multiple days for staff to be paid, Thankyou Payroll is worth a look. If you use timesheets, want to save time on paperwork, like to use apps on the go, or you’re an agricultural customer, make sure you look at the features PaySauce provides to make pay day a breeze.
